BRUXSOMICS is a joint ULB–VUB research platform dedicated to proteomics and metabolomics, with a strong focus on biomarker discovery and translational research.
By bringing together complementary scientific expertise, state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technologies and advanced data analysis approaches, BRUXSOMICS aims to strengthen omics research in Brussels and support the investigation of complex biological processes and diseases. The platform facilitates access to advanced proteomics and metabolomics technologies for researchers, clinicians and external partners, supporting projects from experimental design and sample analysis to data interpretation.Developed in collaboration between the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), BRUXSOMICS also complements existing genomics and transcriptomics infrastructures, contributing to a more integrated multi-omics research ecosystem.Through scientific collaboration, technological innovation and knowledge sharing, BRUXSOMICS aims to accelerate biomedical discoveries and contribute to advances in personalised medicine.
Our Objectives
Advancing scientific discovery through integrated proteomics and metabolomics. BRUXSOMICS brings together expertise, technologies and researchers to support innovative biomedical research and strengthen scientific collaborations.
1. Advance Biomarker Discovery
Support the identification and characterisation of molecular biomarkers through advanced proteomics and metabolomics approaches, contributing to a better understanding of diseases and the development of personalised medicine.
2. Provide Access to Advanced Technologies
Facilitate access to complementary high-resolution mass spectrometry technologies, specialised scientific expertise and data analysis capabilities for researchers, clinicians and external partners.
3. Foster Scientific Collaboration
Strengthen collaborations between ULB, VUB, university hospitals, research institutions and industry, while encouraging the integration of complementary omics approaches.
4. Promote Training and Knowledge Sharing
Develop scientific expertise through workshops, training programmes, summer schools and collaborative activities, enabling researchers and clinicians to make effective use of proteomics and metabolomics technologies.
